19 Jan In the Works: Dual-Brand Marriott of DeKalb, IL
We’re venturing outside of our typical tri-state area for this new project…introducing the dual-brand Fairfield Inn & Suites / TownePlace Suites of DeKalb, Illinois! HiFive is serving as the general contractor for this project.
DeKalb is located in the Greater Chicago area, about one hour west of the major metropolitan city. As most folks know, Chicago winters can be brutal. We began earthwork in September 2025 and then, two months later, had our site buried under snow for weeks on end.

But construction doesn’t stop for snow (especially in Chicago!), so we plowed on through and have been lucky with the weather ever since! The Fairfield Inn & Suites / TownePlace Suites hotel is slated to be complete in spring of 2027. Upon completion, this hotel will stand at 66,000 square feet and four stories tall.
At this point in the project, we’re preparing to go vertical. Footers are nearly complete and we’re prepping for foundation…after that it’s all up, up and away!
