In the works with HiFive is the dual-brand Fairfield Inn & Suites / TownePlace Suites of DeKalb, Illinois! HiFive is serving as the general contractor for this project.
The Fairfield Inn & Suites / TownePlace Suites hotel is slated to be complete in late summer of 2027. Upon completion, this hotel will stand at 66,000 square feet and four stories tall. Earthwork began on this project just over a year ago in September of 2025 and, shortly after, became buried in the Chicago snow for weeks on end (DeKalb is located in the Greater Chicago area, about one hour west of the major metropolitan city). Luckily, once we unearthed ourselves from the snow, construction cranked up and we were full speed ahead.
We’ve had great building weather ever since and are currently in a great position as we head into another Chicago winter.
Currently, EIFS (Exterior insulation finishing system) is going up on the building exterior. This type of cladding system helps provide an insulated, water-resistant finished surface to exterior walls made of composite materials. EIFS is a popular choice for wood buildings, like this one.
You can also see that curbs have been laid in preparation for the asphalt parking lot and well ahead of the inevitable freezing temperatures of a Midwest winter.
